BUT in more than a year I have been unmasked inside with people outside of my household a grand total of 16 times. 12 of those for dental care (Root canal, crown, a tooth that split in two take multiple visits.
I'm relatively comfortable with the mask + shield my dentist uses - BUT - even though they tell me to take my mask off immediately when I get into the chair, I do pull it back up whenever they are not actively working on me.
That said, your question and reaction are totally reasonable.
I'm far more worried about people who believe that now that they are vaccinated indoor restaurants (with a whole heap of unknown, more likely than average to be risk-takers) is perfectly fine.

Yeah, as long as the staff has proper medical masks, shields and gloves I think it would be safe
