(37,063 posts)...and DU has changed somewhat, but I suppose that's expected. I remember spirited discussion about Al Gore's shortcomings as a candidate-- in retrospect, of course. Similarly, there didn't seem to be as many attempts to enforce lockstep unity during John Kerry's campaign, although many good DUers left during the primary in 2004. Nonetheless, I felt quite comfortable having open debates about Kerry's negatives. I didn't support either Clinton or Obama in 2008, although like many here I was moved to tears by Obama's election. I still don't support his reelection, however-- I'm way to the left of today's democratic party-- but I have not felt at all comfortable discussing the reasons for my stance on DU this time around, so I don't. I read DU much more than I post, these days.
