The officer, at absolute best, fucked up. But we clearly have a huge systemic problem. This is way more than the specifics of one case. It’s not one bad apple. It’s widespread and keeps happening, and victim blaming is not helpful. Again, too many cases where PoC were killed by cops while doing absolutely everything “right”, but whatever these circumstances, most of these cases do not require lethal force. Cop’s job is not to be judge, jury, and executioner.
