9. I Don't Think They Will Be During My Lifetime

I'm 55, and gun violence has been a way of life for more than 2 decades now. I don't expect anything to be different when I'm in my 70's or 80's or 90's. I hope that at some point, I'm able to escape this dysfunctional country. I think that elsewhere in the world, we're a big joke. I'd love to believe that there is a battle to stay and fight for, but I feel like the battle has been lost. It is what it is. America is what it is.
