The dogs of retribution will impeach President Biden repeatedly. Even though we'll also lose the Senate, Biden will remain safe (they won't get to 67 votes). However, the people's agenda will stall, a re-empowered McConnell will see to that, with negative fallout for us in the 2024 Presidential election (normal naive 'blame the incumbents' at that point).

You don't think those things we value are at risk? Like free speech, social security and medicare, equality of opportunity (not that we have that now), fairness in taxation, etc.? This risk will be much amplified if we lose Congress and then the Presidency.

If you don't see our democracy hanging on by a thread, well. Let me recommend Levitsky and Ziblatt, How Democracies Die. It's a good read. The parallels with other failed democracies are more than alarming. We are already quite a bit down that road.
