I have 2 republican "friends" that I used to work with and we became work friends. 2 out of the three of us no longer work there. So we would occasionally get together for brunch. we just never mentioned anything political. But now, after not seeing them for over a year because of the pandemic, one of them has texted and emailed me about getting together. I replied by saying something to the effect of "there are still too many crazies out there" in an attempt to delay any meeting and she replied that there are always going to be crazies out there. I am sort of conflicted about meeting up with them. They are both nice women. But how can we meet and never talk of such things as the January 6 insurrection? never talk about trump's lies? These things are too big to not talk about (IMO).

I don't really know what to do. I sometimes think I should just ask them about Jan 6 and see what they say. If I lose their friendship then .... so be it. I am not good at arguing/debating with people.
