9. Exactly, the diversity itself is positive . And assimilation shouldn't mean giving

up ones culture.

Studies have also shown that kids that immigrate here and speak another language besides English are actually able to learn English better if they are allowed to continue speaking their language.

Learning additional languages is easier the more you know and speak other languages .

And we see how this was just one area that devastated Native American communities by denying them their langauge and culture. They could easily have learned English also while continuing to speak their native language (which were the real native languages of the Americas).
