In reply to the discussion: I'm surprised it took so long. My first run-in with a maskhole. [View all]MyMission
(2,008 posts)I live in a smallish repug tourist town, and have been told or questioned quite a few times about my choice to wear a mask. Aren't you vaccinated? is a somewhat frequent question. I am, and have no qualms about saying Yes, I'm vaccinated. Mostly this happens where I work, which is an old (democratic) family retail store on main street, selling a large variety of stuff. We have an army navy section, and that clientele is most likely to be anti-mask. Because this mostly happens at work I need to be polite in my reply.
I've been coming up with a different reply every month or so, when someone questions why I continue to wear a mask when I'm vaccinated. These are some of them.
I don't want to catch a summer cold.
It covers my facial hair.
It's friendlier than my real face (I have several that have a smiling mouth and are friendly)
Honestly, I don't like to brag, but I'm really smart, graduated high school at 16, college at 19, training in statistics, and, my good brain is telling me to keep wearing a mask.
Masks also prevent colds and flu.
They've become a fashion accessory.
I have friends who are immunocompromised and don't want to spread anything to them.
But under my breath I'm thinking what you said!
