Brown is being investigated by the Ohio State Ethics Commission however.
It is interesting also that Brown began running negative ads when she was way behind in the polls last spring.

"Shontel Brown falsely claimed not to be directly running any negative attack ads against Turner in interviews WKYC News Anchor Russ Mitchell did with Brown and Turner. She pointed out how that would be contrary to the upstanding work she does with young people and children. Yet on the very evening the interview aired, attack ads directly sponsored and produced by Brown ran. They were not one of the several negative ads running for her campaign that have been produced by third party PACS.

Brown’s campaign began resorting to attack ads after polls in April showed her trailing Nina Turner badly by at least 8 points. The race has now tightened up, but Turner is still shown in the lead."
