That little mantra has proven itself to me every single time. Ignore it at your peril. It may be true that whatever news might be 'old' by the time it hits the pages of DU (in today's terms, 'old news' means it has been posted for over two hours), but it is still 'news' to those who did not realize something was happening. I'd rather be reminded of the evil in the world one hundred times than try to ignore it and let it run rampant.
