(34,857 posts)It leads people to believe every person who contracts COVID has a 99% chance of surviving - and that isn't true. It's not equal across the board.
The reality is that your odds of surviving depend on a lot of things: including your age, weight and preexisting conditions status.
I'm not necessarily calling you out but I think the narrative that you have a 99% chance of surviving has proven extremely dangerous, as it's led to people believing they, too, will have a 99% chance of surviving COVID if they get it.
But no. Not at all. If you're a 72 year old obese man with diabetes and COPD, I guarantee your chances of surviving COVID is far less than 99% if you're not vaccinated.
Joe Rogan, though? You're right. He probably has a much better chance.
