Jefferson Hospital employee kills coworker, shoots 2 Philly officers before arrest: Police [View all]

A 55-year-old man shot and killed a coworker inside Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia before taking off in a U-Haul, shooting two officers and being struck by police returning fire.

About 12:08 a.m. Monday, police received calls from Jefferson Hospital of a report of a shooter on the ninth floor.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw spoke to reporters just after 4 a.m. outside Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where the suspect and the two officers were taken.

Outlaw said the victim was a 43-year-old certified nursing assistant. He was pronounced dead a short time after being shot
