8. I don't think the Governor of Texas has the power to tell Corporations what to do on his own.

I may be dated on this, but when I studied this years and years ago, the Governor was one of the least powerful positions in Texas. I don't think a Texas Governor's executive order can even mandate the firing of a teacher and unless the teacher is a coach, they have to walk a pretty thin line with no one in their corner to save them. A loud parent can make a teacher's life hell.

Indirectly a Governor has some crazy big perks. A Governor can put friends in positions where they can rake in amazing profits. A well placed friend can go from rags to owning a bank and a major football team.
