32. I work in an ER

So much of what we see is self-induced on some level, although Covid is different in that there is a lack of awareness that they are bringing not only their shortsightedness, self-destructiveness and relative stupidity into the ER for help, but also they bring the virus in abundant numbers, which is scary every time I see a known or suspected Covid patient.

However, curse as I may at human folly prior to entering the exam room, once I get in there, I can never get past the fact that they’re people, fellow human beings, and it is impossible to let any other feeling than empathy and a compulsion to help them out when I am face to face. To not see them as brothers and sisters means I would probably not be in the right line of work.

I would not wish Covid or death upon anyone, and I resonate with what you say about Cula. In my anger and my fear, I might think they deserve what they get, but once it is personalized to the level you and I are speaking of, other factors, such as a heartfelt altruistic sense does kick in and i feel mostly sadness for them…

sorry, I am missing something Skittles Oct 2021 #1
