you say Straight people can and do have sex sometimes with people of the same gender. That doesn't make them gay. Being gay means that one's affections and passions are stirred by people of the same sex. It's much more than sex.

Well, if being gay means that one's affections and passions are stirred by people of the same sex, than the moment that someone who is "straight" experiences passions stirred by people of the same sex, he/she becomes gay under your explanation.
