74. Gringos in Mexico

Just got back from 2 weeks in lovely Mexico City. People and the government there take COVID seriously. There are temperature checks every time you enter a building as well as a squirt of hand sanitizer.
EVERYBODY wears masks even outside, well everybody except some gringos. See a couple of hot blond gringa ladies, no masks for them. Buff young gringo wearing a wife beater, shorts and a hat in a church, he doesn't need a mask he's an American!

And the stupid and arrogance extends beyond the stereotypical white American. I saw an African American family in the airport deliberately ignoring the blocked off every other chair, sitting down right next to an older Mexican man, who pointed out the sign directing them to leave an empty chair between others. They sat anyway, he then got up to move and the American dad unit gave him a totally dickish little finger wave. Note my point is not that an African American family behaved badly but that shitty behavior has become the default action for way too many American no matter their melanin count.

No wonder we have the highest COVID death numbers in the world and no wonder we elected Donald Trump. We are getting what we deserve.
