60. My Mom and Dad worked as volunteers for The Carter Administration on the Canal

I was sold on passing it on to Panama once I got all the details.

The President sent them an actual signed letter of thanks for their efforts. Not a mimeograph - an actual ink pen signature.

His triumphant 1976 campaign was the first campaign I volunteered for, and as I turned 18 in 1976 I could vote for him.

Sad memory, I had a rethuglican roommate when I was in my late 20's; I had put an original Carter/Mondale bumper sticker on my big steamer locker trunk I used for a coffee table (it was covered in stickers from places I travelled too or things I wanted to remember) - while I was at work the asshole peeled it off and tore it up and left it on the floor one night when he was drunk - I was so mad. I'm in my 60's and still have the trunk - and the bare spot where the sticker was torn off is still visible.

President Carter is in my top 5 all time good people.
