(3,346 posts)for COVID they can be moved to non-covid units. While they may be in for COVID and the family perceives them to be a COVID patient - their diagnosis changes. My brother contracted COVID, was moved multiple times between units and facilities. The last unit was not a COVID unit. He died of Pneumonia, because he was not COVID positive at the time and when he died - the Coroner determined the cause to be Pneumonia rather than COVID. He could have visitors (albeit limited) in the non-COVID unit even before he was considered terminal. I would argue he died of COVID or COVID as an underlying condition, but the right wing protested that these deaths are not COVID deaths and won. I'd like to see the state wide statistics on Pneumonia deaths for 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
