(3,590 posts)The unvaxxed, rural, Omicron patients are filling up metro-area hospitals, too. Rural hospitals don't have the capabilities, staff, or the capacity to take care of the "sick" COVID patients, and so these patients get sent on to metropolitan hospitals that have more beds, actual ICUs and better facilities. As these metro hospitals fill up - and fill up with contagious patients, they have to cancel surgeries and other services - because 1) they can't discharge the COVID patients because they're still sick, 2) they don't have room to admit new patients and 3) even if they did have room, they can't take the risk of infecting other patients with COVID. So yeah, the tRump voters (aka, the unvaxxed) may be dying, but they're hurting others who need vital services at their own local hospitals because those who are local to those metro hospitals can't get beds.
