remember a huge field in the country where I grew up at, and one always had to be careful in crossing one particular field (I crossed it as a kid to get to the river, to go fishing, neighbors didn't mind). There was, however, a bull in the field so you had to be careful in crossing the field. Most times you were okay, he was on the other far side of the field, but there were times where I was damn glad that the fence line was right there, and I was able to get across it to escape. These critters do not like trespassers/very territorial.
