He's always been capable of unhinged and aggressive behavior, but this is extreme.

It could also be that whatever illnesses he's suffering from or treating make him psychologically more likely to lash out and hurt as many people as he can; because he's sick and suffering and his prognosis is poor he's decided to go for it, reunify the former ussr under Russia and his rule, until he's done. And if he causes death and chaos in the world, all the better. Going out with a bang.

Whatever is causing him to be so aggressive, I hope it kills him or causes someone to do so.
