(63,221 posts)Kutna Hora). They were all great! The ages ranged from young 20's up to seniors with me being kind of in the middle (30's - early 40's at the time). Even the older people were pretty much game for all the walking we did and it was a lot of sightseeing of the historical sites/arts etc. They also give you free time to do your own thing which I liked as well.
The guides are really good and know all about the history and you are introduced to the culture's food, art, music, etc. Like in Ireland we went to pubs that played traditional Irish Music and one night we had dinner in a castle, or in Prague we had a traditional group dinner w/ a few violinists playing Bedrech Smetana - you learn and are exposed to so much! There is time to shop if people want to do that, but a lot of people want to go to a museum or just walk around the streets to take it all in. Some of the meals are on your own so you can get together w/ people on the trip to try one of Rick's recommended restaurants or just do your own thing.
The hotels are usually smaller, quaint hotels or B&B's right in the thick of everthing and not soulless business hotels on the outskirts. If there is a tour bus, it's more like a coach that is for 25-30 people and not some huge Greyhound type of bus. It was just a great mix of thing to do and see but the schedule isn't so jam packed that you feel like you don't have any space or time to yourself (like if you need a nap or something). The trips don't include airfare, so that is an additional expense, but if you can get a cheap flight, they are definitely worth it!
