(2,194 posts)42. I heard Netflix is fed up with password sharing, and they were planning
to implement a new system where they would charge extra for other IP address access. Which basically means if you are on vacation, at work or staying somewhere else, you were going to be charged extra for accessing their app anywhere outside your home. Yes, this might prevent password sharing, but you are going to lose customers doing this, which is apparently what is happening.
PS. This has not been implemented yet, but apparently word is spreading and I think customers are just disgusted with the idea. I heard this about 2 weeks ago.

They added 500,000 subscribers but "lost" 700,000 when they canceled Russian accounts

I believe the increase in price they implemented was partly cause for a decrease in customers ...
