..because that's the way it's always been. The party that holds the WH always suffers losses in the midterms" - a declaration that invariably follows a litany of statements about how we are living in unprecedented times, where political business-as-usual is no longer "usual".
In today's political climate, believing that anything is inevitable is to believe that votes don't count, because "inevitability" is stronger than the voice of the People.

There's a quote that goes something like "There is no present or future; just history repeating itself."
I'm not hearing "pundits, political analysts, MSM personalities, journalists, and other assorted and sundry spokes-mouths repeating the idea that the Democrats will lose the House and/or the Senate", only that it's a reasonable expectation based on history, Biden's poll numbers and the fucking price of gasoline.
I agree with you that the current political climate is unique and could be a game changer. I also know too many voters vote their emotions rather than their conscience and too many voters have no clue or concerns about the current political climate or the threat to our democracy. All they know is what they're paying for fucking gasoline and bacon...
