(1,893 posts)... since I live in Denmark with a social democratic female PM, and are not happy about it. The norm for Denmark is multi party governments, with ministers from all the supporting parties. She has only chosen ministers from her own party, and the the pool to pick from there has not really been convincing.
Her party is showing some strong totalitarian tendencies with lots of public security cameras and wire taps of ordinary people, and the actual slogan: "More surveillance gives more freedom". It has been deemed illegal by the European Union, but she persists. Generally our social democrats are doing a better job when they are in opposition...
Her government has made some really stupid military adventures, the last one being supposedly fighting pirates at Africa, but with no coalition partners or rules of engagement in place. The legality after killing some pirates down there raised a lot of questions.
We are very used to having lots of women in our governments, but seeing this as some kind of revolutionary change is far from reality. There are a lot of power seeking women, who are no better than men for this kind of job. But OK, incompetent women getting the same jobs as incompetent men is also a kind of progress!
