I expected Republicans to be meeker and more prudent after getting rid of Roe [View all]

If there's anything we know about Republicans, it's that they love power. We also know that they don't give a DAMN about fetuses, especially minority ones.

So I honestly expected that, once they got rid of Roe, Republicans would act a little like the dog who finally caught the truck he's been chasing all these years- pretty regretful. Instead, the Louisiana Legislature wants to prosecute women who get an abortion for murder, and the Senate GOP is talking about nationwide legislation making abortion illegal.

Can someone explain to me how this makes political sense? A recent poll shows Americans support abortion rights by a 2-to-1 margin. Do Republicans think those voters are going to LIKE being told that they are murderers? What's going on here?
