4. They see the future

Fewer people staying religious. Most people supporting abortion right. Heck, even 49% of republicans support marriage equality. They're shedding members faster (from natural causes) faster than they can replace them. They've been big losers on the popular vote as well. Everything they're doing - gerrymandering, making it more difficult for people to vote, January 6th as a trial run, all these laws, court cases is because they know they don't have the support of America, and they don't know how long they have so they've got to do something now.
