To make along story short, I worked in a private school for close to ten years. In that time, I had a few parents speak out against me (still do not know why except that I did not look like a successful, GQ-type), and had two staff members turn on me, with one of them trying to get me arrested and in trouble with the state Child Protective Services (both staff members were just being asshats, with the one deciding that his own failure as a staff member was my fault. Which was interesting considering that we were two different departments, and I had little to do with him or his department. My point is that flaky parents can and will do anything to maintain their hold on their children and that is a danger to those of us who feel that the old adage about a village is true.
I am warmed to hear that you had such an influence on that woman. I worked hard in the time I was with those kids to have such an effect. I have no idea if I did. Based on the evidence, I would say I did not. Another failure in a lifetime of it.
