(11,244 posts)If you're a fan of stand-up, how he constructs his jokes is brilliant. How he structures his stories, circles around, and flips the script on where you think he's going with it. There is a lot of artistry in how he goes about it.
For people who just go to see a comedian for a laugh, people have a lot of affection for him from the days of his show.
For me, his newer material isn't as funny while simultaneously genius in its construction. I'm not sure if I find him hilarious as much as I just admire how he works his craft.
That said, the Jussie Smollett shit was golden.
As for his current controversy. I just don't think I care. And with this incident, the "real story" is that he said he was attacked with a knife identifying as a gun and not the fact he was attacked with a knife for his jokes?
Ok. I guess that's where we are now. The important bit is the words, not the violence.
