(114,650 posts)25. I've had RA since my teens. I always preferred physical work
because I'd stiffen up at desk jobs and it was pure agony. Don't be too surprised if she quits this job and looks for something with a lot more activity. There has to be something out there she can do with lower physical demands than her last job, but enough to keep her moving well.
Also reassure her that she's shifting mental gears at this job and that's tough for all of us, but if she wants to stick to it, she will learn the job and get used to the phones and the other activity. Or she might not be able to handle the sensory overload and run screaming within the first week, that's happened to me a couple of times.
RA isn't the nasty thing it was 60 years ago, there are new and much better treatments, especially for younger people.
