(3,721 posts)...then the Republican party would go into meltdown. They would allege voter and election fraud on a massive scale. They would demand investigations and, where Republicans run the statehouses and governors' mansions, they'd conduct these investigations themselves. They would unilaterally and monolithically ignore and defy the results of the election in a huge "he's not my president" movement. (Think of the birther movement on steroids.) They would go into a total and complete obstructionist mode of operations (making their recent obstructionism look like child's play by comparison), effectively trying to run their own country within a country.
It would be a period of such chaos and sustained civil, political and economic attack that it would essentially be a rebellion the likes of which will not have seen since the civil war.
This is NOT hyperbole. Republicans have been radicalized to the point where I can see something like this happening.
