The .243 WIN round is usually about the smallest you see people deer hunting with around here. Most use something larger like .270, .308 or .30-06 though.
Hunting rifles are limited to 5 round magazines here so even if someone did legally use their AR-15 for deer hunting, itd really be no more or less effective than most other semi-automatic rifles as far as function or capacity.
