If the DOJ agrees not to prosecute them for contempt in exchange for their cooperation in nailing others.
They are implicated in much larger and more serious crimes than contempt. And both started off cooperating until they stopped. That shows at least a bit of willingness to cooperate. And it illustrated how they are different cases than Navarro, who stuck his middle finger up at the committee from the start.
Why would the DOJ go for the jugular and cut off the possibility that they will cooperate if they are not prosecuted for contempt?
Would you rather see these two nailed for contempt and never learn firsthand how high up this conspiracy goes?
Think outside the box. It's not black or white.
