I think that you are spot on.
I also can't overlook the irony of Dick Cheney's daughter opposing a coup, considering the 2000 election. The difference between Bush/Cheney in 2000 and Trump in 2020 is that Trump was more violent. But Bush/Cheney laid the groundwork for violence when they hired thugs to disrupt the vote count in Florida. They were willing to use physical aggression to supplement their court cases.
