But the problem is the 2-pronged aspect of the Roman Catholic Church abuse scandals; the abuse itself (catastrophically horrible enough), and then members of the hierarchy knowingly covering it up & moving abusers around to molest again. This was standard operating procedure that put the good standing of the hierarchy above the good of the faithful who put their trust and the care of their children in them.

The Southern Baptists could have learned from the Roman Church's failure. But alas...

It will take decades/centuries for healing and trust to happen again. And that's a good thing. "They do it too" is a weak-ass position (tu quoque). It is GOOD that the hierarchy is finally being held to account and clericalism as a practice is losing its prominence.
