(3,682 posts)We have family, beautiful land, and a culture that has enormous artistic, literary, and just plain human value for all of its warts. I have plenty of good liberal friends right here, and plenty of Republican friends who don't bother about my beliefs, but lend me a helping hand when I need it.
Of course I want to change the political beliefs of this place. Most of the people I know are poor and many are in bad health, and believe it or not their human worth outweighs the difficulties of living in a place that suffers so much for the policies that a majority of the people support. For better or worse, I'd rather live in a place where people have diverse enough political opinions that they know reducing people to their political and religious beliefs is just plain silly.
Besides, I'd be lost without my bluegrass.
