... how this brilliant strategy is supposed to work.

Liz becomes president by turning against her own party and destroying Trump and his allies - but she can't do it alone, and the allies of her father will see to it?

Where are these alleged allies of her father now? Why are they not defending her, championing her position, aiding in taking down Trump so as to clear the way for Liz's triumphant election as POTUS?

I think your "logic" might be a tad flawed.
