This is a strategically-dropped bomb.

They really couldn't keep the depth of their investigation a secret much longer, given that Pence's chief of staff and other top WH people are being interviewed. It was obvious as soon as that became known that they were already close to the top. Given that they got the phone records in April, it appears the DOJ had been quietly investigating all along.

But people demand to see proof, and that isn't the way these things go. Not in the early stages. If the DOJ made all these public announcements all along, the J6C might not have had cooperation from a lot of the thousands of people they interviewed. Or the DOJ, for that matter. That's a damn good reason to keep quiet.

And it shows you how long such a huge and complicated investigation such as this takes.
