(9,148 posts)That book is so obviously a bunch of collected stories and tall tales slapped together by some Bronze Age goat herders in Mesopotamia. Do people not stop to think that the universe consists of billions of galaxies and trillions of planets, and it is 14 billion years old, and Earth has had some form of life on it for almost 4 billion years, and humans only came along within 200,000 years or so, and the Bible only accounts for a tiny fraction of that time? And God (yes, the fact that "he" is imagined as male would be laughable if it weren't such damaging framing) and His "son" Jesus (the product of a rape of a virgin by the cruel sky god who also drowned almost the entire population of the planet, oh, and by the way, the son is also his own father ... go figure) are these supernatural creatures that focus all of their attention on one species of hairless primates on this one little planet? WTF? I mean, I get believing this shit if you lived in some medieval village or whatever, but, come on. Stories of Yahweh and Jesus the magical carpenter who will return to earth aaaaany day now are on par with "a monster swallows the sun at night."
