6. For a judge to sign the warrant, there had to be hard evidence presented.

In the FBI cases I have read about, yes there has been wire taps, direct surveillance, etc.

And the warrant has to list items being searched for.

So yes they knew what they were looking for and had hard evidence to support the search.
