(52,141 posts)presence of the documents at MOL is part of a DOJ sting against tfg. I am saying I hope they knew all along the papers were there and wanted to see what he was going to do with them, but they were always in control of the documents. Or the documents were somehow fakes.
We have no idea yet if it was a sting operation. There has been no information to say it was, and frankly it seems unlikely to me that it was. But it is the only scenario that does not point to a complete failure of our national security apparatus, so I fervently hope that we learn soon that it was a sting.
If we learn that it was NOT a sting operation by the DOJ against tfg, it means that our most damaging national secrets have been unsecured in a hotel basement for 18 months.
If that is the case, this is not a good thing. This is not a success on anyone's part. It represents an astonishing failure by every organization charged with our national security, including the FBI and the DOJ.
