28. Good point. In a a typical case at this point the FBI would have wire taps, surveillance, etc.

This would make communication quite difficult.

(Of course this is Trump so who knows if the FBI only came by to pick up the boxes and return them to the US government.)

Generally if there are many serious crimes committed, and the FBI is involved, the target would have a hard time leaving the country because of surveillance.

Like Paul Manafort was arrested at Miami International headed for Dubai. He most likely was being followed and the FBI had to make the arrest before he boarded the plane. Even if the FBI doesn't have all the evidence they would like, they are going to have to nab the target right away before he gets on the plane.

I don't see Trump being able to get on a Russian or Saudi plane right now?

I don't know how Trump would escape. If it were me committing one of the worst crimes in American history, a sitting US president selling national security secrets, I would have an escape plan.

Perhaps I would sneak away from my SS agents guarding me in the middle of the night, have a small motor boat take me out to a yacht sailing off the coast of Florida. Russian subs are typically patrolling off the east coast of the US and one could swing by and pick me up.

Of course Trump is not smart enough to think of this and figures he has no need to make an escape plan. He can threaten to burn down the country and the DOJ will back off.
