(31 posts)The police did not just break into her home on a whim, guns a-blazing. I'm not here to defend how the police obtained the warrant, but at the time the warrant was deemed legal and the police moved in and served it. The police did not fire their guns until they were fired upon and an officer was struck by a bullet fired blindly through a wall by Ms. Taylor's boyfriend as she stood next to him. I do not care if you think you are being robbed, you are not legally justified to shoot someone in your home who poses no immediate threat to you. Ms. Taylor was an innocent bystander whose boyfriend let her pay for his crime. Police returned fire. Had Ms. Taylor's boyfriend not shot an officer doing their job, NONE of this would have occurred! I am not trying to defend the officers who may or may not have obtained the warrant illegally. I am just saying that we need to stick to the facts and the truth or else we are no better than the other side. The truth doesn't take away from the tragedy of her death.
