(58,785 posts)have given a great deal of thought to this, and what Biden's trying to do is put it in action. He is a national leader, after all. This is what he, and others, are supposed to do. And we should think about it before choosing to either reject or help put this strategy into action.
You're right, of course, that needing to change dysfunctional notions that have been solidifying for decades now is a serious problem. But most of us as people are somewhere in a range of what we could be. Most conservatives have been trained over years to be something like their own worst versions politically, but becoming more like the better versions they could be is possible. That's proven by studies that have done just that.
Same for everyone to reconnect with any good qualities smothered by anger in this ugly period.
Biden points a way by separating out those we need to oppose while they're still endangering our people, and need not try to accept, from those who have become scared of what the MAGAs are doing and might ally politically to stop them, or at least not vote.
