(3,397 posts)First off, Christians believe that the crucifixion was the whole point that Jesus became human. That was the plan all along. The Jews were patsies, if anything, since someone had to kill Jesus in order for the resurrection to happen.
More importantly, according to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" while literally hanging on the cross. Seems a bit peculiar for Christians to hate on the Jews when Jesus himself forgave them and asked for forgiveness on their behalf.
Then again, the "Jews killed Jesus" thing was largely used to justify pogroms against Jewish folks throughout history with the aim of taking their stuff, ostracizing them, and/or killing them. It was and is a convenient excuse to justify the hatred and persecution more than anything else since it doesn't make a bit of sense.
