Time to admit I was completely wrong [View all]
For the last week or two I've been saying that the Dems were absolutely screwed in 2022. My prediction was that the polls were underestimating the Republicans and that talk of early turnout was nothing but Democratic coping. I believed that the GOP would gain 35-40 House Seats, 3-4 Senate Seats, and would sweep many of the gubernatorial elections. And I also said if I was wrong I would admit it. So here I am, for the first time ever, absolutely shocked by the result of an election. Not even 2016 surprised me like 2022 did.
I've never been so happy to be so, so wrong. Not only did the GOP, to put it politely, shit the bed on these midterms but MAGAism seems to be a largely dead ideology. Trump's endorsement is like the kiss of death. There are still a ton of challenges ahead but I'm suddenly far, far less concerned about this country's future and the world suddenly makes much more sense again.
I still don't know how we did it but I'm hardly one to complain about such things. Good job all. You held it together even when people like me were losing their minds.
