It's still amazing to me how it's ALWAYS the right-wing nutjobs, at least in my area, who loudly bloviate about politics in public that way. At workplaces, stores, etc.

I live in a purple area, yet they act like everyone will naturally agree with them. They seem to have no understanding that MANY people won't agree with their commentary, because they'll often look surprised when others indeed express their disagreement.

Maybe it's all the right-wing propaganda they hear on the radio and elsewhere, with no balance from the left?

I experienced the OPPOSITE during a vacation in California a few years ago. I rode on Amtrak trains to get there -- since they didn't care about all my hiking/camping gear, which included bear spray. During the Portland to Sacramento leg of the trip, the liberal passenger next to me was LOUDLY deriding right-wingers. I agreed with him, but I was also nervously looking around at other passengers because I assumed they'd have some angry rednecks around there too. But everyone on the train looked satisfied despite the guy's yelling!
