I was deeply touched by your essay.

Some of it is likely to be righton target. Some of it may not be, although any of it is possible. Different people react differently to the same stimuli.

Some of our readers appear to have a compassion deficit. But the only thing that really put me off (not by you) was the comment which implied that your allusion to brain injury was some kind of character assassination. That implication really offended me.

Many years ago there was a dude who made movies on alcoholism for the Navy. One of his - I'll call the slogans - short pithy sentences which stimulated thinking - was "No lieelt bi=oy or girsl asked what they wanted to be when they grew up ever said, 'an alcoholic.'" No, no one ever shose that, No one ever chose TBI either. Hearing people refer to alcoholism as a characted defect is bad enough. Hearing people refer to TBI as if it were a character defect is - just beyond that.
