(71,963 posts)... 1,000 years of one family's traditional exploitation of other classes of human beings. She changed just one of their member's attitudes, and she and her husband ended up in exile. I think she's handled it all with dignity and honor.
In the end, I could not care a whit about the royals. I am interested in Meghan and her nuclear family outside of being royal, like the Invictus Games (I'm a vet, interested in other's interest in us), the Childrens HIV Association (CHIVA), Crisis, Myna Mahila Foundation, Scottys Little Soldiers, StreetGames, Surfers Against Sewage and The Wilderness Foundation UK. I am very interested in their new nonprofit, Archewell - about which I know very little. And even more from before her marriage: she was involved from the time she was a child.
But the "Royals", not so much. I thought the treatment of Meghan by her in-laws and Harry's grandparents was shameful and based on their attitudes towards women not of their class: she is a woman of color, not deferential and quiet enough for them, not of the "blood", divorced, American. About as dismissive of her personhood as could be. And to be clear: I am not alright with it.
