I worked this election. This information was also among the talking points we gave to phone bankers and canvassers.

A consortium of conservative super pacs pumped tens of millions of dollars into the the NY races in an effort to elect Lee Zeldin governor and flip the House and Senate red, and the media story line was "CRIME! CRIME! CRIME!" which helped amplify Republican messaging.
